A typical example of an Istrian “konoba” (tavern). The fireplace that dominates the cosy, rustic dining room is not merely decorative, while the service here is friendly and attentive and the cuisine delicious. Although the menu often includes different types of game, the restaurant takes its name from the house speciality (“beccaccia” is the Italian for woodcock) – this takes a long time to prepare and so must be ordered in advance. Fresh pasta, home-made desserts and generous portions all add to the appeal.
