The centre of the upper town clusters around this long shopping street, which leads into Piazzale Aldo Moro to the east and Piazza Pirandello to the west. Walking along Via Atenea, you'll come past Palazzo Celauro (the main façade of which overlooks the street of the same name), where Goethe stayed during his time in Sicily. The street then leads into Piazza del Purgatorio, overlooked by the Chiesa di San Lorenzo.
