Drake Park

Parque ou jardim
A opinião do Guia Michelin
Eleven acres of grassy lawn and trees flanking both banks of the Deschutes River on the west side of downtown, the park is well known for the swans, geese and ducks that congregate on placid Mirror Pond. A 1908 Craftsman-style bungalow, the H.E. Allen House (910 N.W. Brooks St.), on the east side of the park, has recently been converted into a community arts center. On riverside is the Frank T. Johns Landmark: Johns, a US presidential candidate, was delivering a campaign speech in Drake Park in 1928 when he dove into the river in a doomed attempt to rescue a 10-year-old boy swept away by the current. Both drowned.
