Lunuganga Estate on Lake Dedduwa is the country house of Sri Lankan architect Geoffrey Bawa (1919-2003), who designed several upscale hotels in the area. The artist dreamed up an enchanting half-Renaissance, half-Romantic garden here, with clever use of light, water features and secret pavilions. The walk under the cover of the tall trees is a delight. The house and gardens are filled with paintings, sculptures and antiques.
