The gold-plated dome of the New Synagogue (Neue Synagoge) is the most visible symbol of the Scheunenviertel's renaissance. Between Oranienburger Straße and Hackescher Markt, trendy cafés and restaurants, restored courtyards and backyards, fashion boutiques and art galleries create a constant buzz. This is the centre of reunified Berlin, and cuts across a large swathe of the former Jewish quarter.
