In the early 1900s, weary prospectors traveling from Valdez north to the goldfields found accommodations and food at some 30 roadhouses along the way. This 10-acre site preserves one such establishment. Built on the broad and silty Tanana River, Rika's Roadhouse operated from 1909 until the late 1940s; the imposing log structure has been restored and the parlor, kitchen and one bedroom are open for guided or self-guided touring.
