Huacachina Lagoon, an amazing oasis in the middle of the desert, is full of surprises. You can surf down the dunes, take a sunset walk, a (bumpy) excursion in a buggy, a spin in a boat or head out onto the water in a pedalo. But this resort that enjoyed popularity with a well-heeled clientele in the 1920-1930s now also attracts a different crowd: penniless itinerants congregate here in a din of music with polluting and noisy areneros (sand buggies).
