A stony path, first shaded then panoramic, leads to this chapel built in several stages from the 14C. It is home to a late-15C fresco of the Assumption of the Virgin and a small 16C fresco by Sodoma depicting the Exaltation at the Holy Cross. The forecourt (Teatro delle Fonti) is a 17C granite hemicycle where three fountains used to flow from springs. Only the right-hand fountain continues to flow and it is ideal to refresh yourself after the steep climb.
