The 87m belfry is the only Baroque belfry in Belgium (1661-72). A UNESCO World Heritage Site, completely restored, it is crowned with a graceful central onion dome with four corner pinnacles and an openwork lantern. The carillon has 49 bells, including a great bell weighing 5t. The belfry houses a museum dedicated to its own history. It stands at the town's highest point, in the charming Square du Château, from where there are fine views.
