Peaceful, breezy and shaded by a canopy of tall hardwood trees, this 284-acre park lies on the point of land between the Snake and Columbia rivers and offers long vistas across the water to the high, bare hills that rise above the Tri-Cities area. The area was once a rich fishery where the Yakama, Wanapum and other Sahaptian-speaking Indians gathered to harvest and dry salmon. Lewis and Clark camped on the point October 16-18, 1805, marveled over the abundance of salmon and visited with the Indians who lived nearby.
