The banks of the River Yangzi are a paradise for hikers, who can walk through the deep gorges, whose walls reach almost 3 900m high at their narrowest point (30m). Overlooked by Mt Haba (5 396m) and dotted with Naxi villages, Tiger Leaping Gorge is part of a grandiose landscape. It's possible to swim in the natural hot springs (30-35°C) from April to June.
