Siberut Island is the stronghold of the Mentawai who live in the jungle and villages. Ask to be dropped off by pong-pong (motorised canoe) at Rogdog and set off on foot with a local guide to explore the jungle. Stop at Madobag and refresh yourself at Kulu Lubuk waterfall. Then, continue on to the more far-flung villages of Sakalio, Ugai et Attabai where you will see large ancient umas (house villages). All around you are surrounded by the noisy and inhospitable (for the novice) jungle!
