A haven of peace and quiet, this modest medieval castle, remodelled from the Middle Ages to the Renaissance, became a comfortable country house in the 19C. A regular guest at Saché, Honoré de Balzac mentioned the castle in his works, in particular in the Lily in the Valley. The house, set in extensive, romantic grounds, is now a museum devoted to the great writer.
