This fortified residence is in fact a cliff-castle like Les Eyzies: behind its 14C façade is a haven protected by solid rock. After more than half a century of prehistoric excavations, the site is now open to visitors: great hall, armoury, dining hall, salon, kitchen, bedrooms, chapel, and dungeons over three levels. Stairs lead up to a natural viewpoint from wher there is a fine view of the River Vézère.
