Veliki Preslav's Archaeological Museum is really worth a visit for it houses the famous mosaic icon of St Theodore Stratilata, which has become the emblem of Bulgaria's Orthodox faith, as well as a treasure consisting of refined gold jewellery. Also noteworthy are models which help to understand the topography of the town, and the oldest Glagolitic and Cyrillic inscriptions in ancient Bulgarian.
