To the northwest of Zakynthos, follow the main road going via Volimes; at the fork for the vista over the Shipwreck Cove, don't miss the remote Agios Georgios Monastery, hidden behind the pines. The place exudes the most serene atmosphere and is full of charm, with its imposing keep and its courtyard bathed in light, where the rows of former monks' cells stand in rows. A pretty porch precedes the church, a small covered vestibule surrounded by a stone bench.
