A single road serves the region of Anopolis: an impressive route that sets off from Hora Sfakion and tackles the steep slope down to the sea via a series of some 20 hairpin bends! The 500m point is quickly reached, on a ledge above the waters. The island of Gavdos can be made out in the distance... Anopolis Plateau appears at an elevation of 600m, covered with olives and crops. It is presided over to the north by Pachnes, the highest peak of Lefka Ori - the White Mountains (2 453m).
