This Dominican monastery founded in the late 15C was the summer residence of the Catholic Monarchs and also the seat of the University. Its church (a single nave and two galleries) houses the fine alabaster mausoleum of Crown Prince Juan by Domenico Fancelli (1512). The cloisters of the Novices (simple in style), of Silence (small enough to be intimate), and of the Monarchs (Museum of Oriental Art) lead to the chancel gallery and to the high altar. Here, you can admire the altarpiece of St Thomas Aquinas, a masterpiece by Berruguete.
