Keen to hunt in the surrounding forests, King René I (1409-80) had a residence built in Baugé in the style of the first Renaissance, upon the ruins of a fortress. The very entertaining museography brings to life the stone walls and the character of René of Anjou. You will learn about the art of the medieval tournament and of falconry and wild boar hunting. Visitors can also see the reconstruction of the king's room and admire rare 15C-16C ceramics and earthenware.
