St Dominic is buried here in a superb sarcophagus by Nicola Pisano (1267), which is crowned by statues sculpted at a later date by Niccolo dell'Arca and completed by Michelangelo in 1494. Low-reliefs by Pisano illustrate the life and miracles of St Dominic. In the chapel to the right of the choir, the Mystic Marriage of St Catherine (1501) by Filippino Lippi and the Christus Dolens by Giunta Pisano are also worthy of note.
