The cloisters and gardens of the early-15C monastery are open to the public. The hospital founded by the monks now houses the town museum, where a model of the original Elsinore Castle can be seen. The German composer Dietrich Buxterhude (1637-1707) worked as an organist in the monastery church, Skt Maria Kirke, from 1660 to 1668, before he went on to Lübeck.
