Fans of shadow theatre, the national art, will make a beeline here to admire the finely crafted leather (wayang kulit) and wooden puppets (flat wood wayang kelitik or rod wayang golek). While the majority of the characters and scenarios is based on the Hindu epics of the Mahabharata and Ramayana, you will see a few curiosities, such as a Christian wayang, depicting Adam and Eve and wayang suluk, intended for anti-Dutch propaganda during the War of Independence.
