A wonder of nature, this 19km, 2.5km-wide glacier is easily accessible and connects Juneau Icefield to Mendenhall Lake. A 0.3mi trail leads to the water's edge; East Glacier Loop (3.5mi) brings hikers to the edge of the glacier, which is sliding forward 60cm a day, but is actually losing around 7m a year as a result of global warming.
