Aukštoji gatvė has the most handsome 18C houses in the town. The neighbourhood suffered some damage in the fire of 1854. Note, first and foremost, at no 3, a former granary, with many windows, the purpose of which was to facilitate drying. This half-timbered building houses the Baroti art gallery. You will also see the former post office (no 13), heralded by a sturdy wrought-iron sign.
