This Pyrenean pass (2 115m) boasts a remarkable panoramic view, in particular of the Barèges summits. In the distance, beyond the Ardiden range, the great mass of the Balaïtous mountain and its glacier rise up. A plaque has been erected in homage to "Monsieur Paul", who promoted tourism in the Pyrenees and built the Pic du Midi road. Nowadays this route is only accessible to hikers, who, by setting out from the Tourmalet Pass, can reach the Pic du Midi de Bigorre (5hr 30min there and back, 900m climb).
