Just north of a row of restored Victorian houses stands this large and elegant residence, built in 1834 by John and Amelia Harris; it remained in the Harris family until 1960. Its spacious reception rooms bear witness to the town's busy social and cultural life in the 19C. The library and drawing room are particularly noteworthy, as are the lovely family furnishings and artefacts.
