The Courtauld Gallery came into being thanks to Samuel Courtauld, an industrialist with a passion for 19C art. Its fabulous collection of Impressionist and post-Impressionist paintings has been augmented by other bequests and long-term loans. These priceless artworks can be seen in the rooms of Somerset House.
