Designed by Ricardo Bofill, this ultra-modern arts and music centre is built in yellow Jaumont limestone (as is the cathedral) and has been created around the façade of the old 19C arsenal. The interior is home to a large concert hall (the acoustics of which received praise from Rostropovitch during the opening concert in 1989), a smaller hall, an exhibition gallery, a large shop and two spacious reception rooms.
