This vast contemporary district is the work of the Catalan architect, Ricardo Bofill, who is renowned for his neo-Classical pastiches. Entablatures, pediments, pilasters and columns give this district, with its social housing and municipal facilities arranged around squares and patios embellished with fountains, a harmonious and monumental feel. The district covers an area of 40 hectares from the Polygone shopping centre to the Esplanade de l'Europe on the banks of the River Lez.
