The two buildings, designed by Jacques-Ange Gabriel (1698-1782), are in the Louis XV style, combining severity and lightness, overall harmony and quality of details (Corinthian columns, pediment, elevation of the façades). To the right of Rue Royale is the Hôtel de la Marine; to the left are the Automobile Club de France and the world-famous and restored Crillon Hotel.
