On either side of Mittelstraße are a series of red-brick, gabled houses that made up the Dutch Quarter built by Dutch architect Bouman c. 1749 to house the workers brought from Holland to drain the Potsdam marshes. One of the 134 houses, situated at n° 8 Mittelstraße, is open to the public.
