This square in the town centre is lined with grand mansions: Hôtel de Sade (15C-16C) and Hôtel Mistral de Mondragon, a huge Renaissance residence arranged around a lovely courtyard, with a round staircase turret and loggias, which houses the Musée des Alpilles. Further along is the Hôtel d'Almeran-Maillane, where Charles Gounod gave the first recital of Mireille.
