This is an excellent place to learn about the importance of traditional Mayan medicine as it is still practiced by the Indians of Chiapas, relying heavily on medicinal plants (grown in the museum gardens), prayer and other "incidental" rituals. The museum devoted to the subject contains instructive explanations as well as on-site treatments in the consultation centre where local people come in search of remedies for their ills.
