The museum is laid out in six historic buildings, including an eight-storey tower and an old mill. In addition to Franconian geology and prehistory, it charts the history of the town from the Middle Ages up until its existence as an Imperial city in 1802. Look for the ivory figures by Leonhard Kern, 17C sculptor, inspired by his travels to Italy and Africa.
