Angkor Thom is, along with Angkor Wat, one of the jewels of the archaeological park. The last "great city" was the work of King Jayavarman VII (1181-1218), the most prolific builder in Angkorian history. The complex is encircled by an unbroken wall and a moat forming a 3.2km/2mi quadrilateral (13km/8mi circumference).
