Popular with wealthy Athenians, who have fine houses here, the island of Spetses charms visitors with its gentle light and fragrant jasmine. It has only one town, of the same name, lying across from the Argolid coast. While the Dapia quarter is lively, the old port has largely retained its authenticity. The rest of the island is taken up by a huge Aleppo pine forest. Here, you get about by carriage, bicycle or on foot.
