The excellent little Varanger Sami museum gives a very attractive presentation (slide shows, models and interactive screens) of the traditional way of life of the Sami, the first inhabitants of the coastal regions. Weapons made from bones, Stone-Age arrows, the home, everyday objects and the organisation of the siida (local community) show the evolution of the Sami and how the intrusion of modernity disrupted a centuries-old way of life.
